Growth in the Faith

His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature,escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, make every effort to confirm your calling and election, because if you do these things you will never stumble. 11 For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you.

12 Therefore I will always remind you about these things, even though you know them and are established in the truth you have. 13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this bodily tent, to wake you up with a reminder, 14 knowing that I will soon lay aside my tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has also shown me. 15 And I will also make every effort that you may be able to recall these things at any time after my departure.

The Trustworthy Prophetic Word

16 For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, a voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory:

This is My beloved Son.
I take delight in Him!

18 And we heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with Him on the holy mountain. 19 So we have the prophetic word strongly confirmed. You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 First of all, you should know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation, 21 because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 3:16.

"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being."

This verse just wooed me, so I thought I would share.






“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in froth of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.” Matthew 6:1. 

Realize this: Jesus does not say “Do not practice your righteousness in front of others.” He says not to practice your righteousness in front of others with the wrong motive. That motive being “to be seen by them.” In Matthew 5:16 Jesus says, “…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds…” It is apparent that we are not to hide our actions from the world for the sake of being “humble”. But we are to practice our righteousness to “…glorify [our] Father in heaven” Matthew 5:16. 

If you have the wrong motive, you will not receive a reward from God, although you may receive a ‘reward’ from your peers. But what is eternal?



Doubt is Sin.

Every time somebody tells me that it is okay to live a life plagued by doubt, I think about the “…surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” [James 1:6]. The disciples in the boat were stricken by fear that stemmed from the depths of their doubt. They were tossed by the wind and cried for help. And Jesus asked, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?" [Matthew 14:31]. 

Indeed, doubt is a part of our nature. But are we not partakers of the divine nature? [2 Peter 1:4]. We are to live by the Spirit. Spirit-renewed minds are composed of “life and peace.” [Romans 8:6]. If we live hopeless lives of doubt, we have aligned ourselves with the patterns of this world. “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him." [Romans 8:9]. 

Realize this. The original sin of Adam and Eve was not disobeying God! Satan deceives Eve into distrusting what God had already spoken to her, and into her life.

Doubt is a lie and scheme of hell and it has no place in the kingdom. Remove it at all costs. Keep your eyes on the king. The devil had no power over you. All that he has is lies. By believing those lies, you empower a powerless foe. Stand on the Word of God.

If you are in Christ Jesus, the Creator of the universe has declared you to be “…a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." [1 Peter 2:9].

We are “…heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." [Romans 8].

Have faith! Do not doubt! Doubt is real and it is a struggle. But it is not your destiny.
